High Scores
If you have ever wondered how some players have a higher score than you but played for less time then this could be the answer! If you play very well in whatever game you normally play, for example, HQ but one of your friends has played the same amount of time but has a significantly higher score then there is an extremely high chance that he plays S&D.
If you want to get a high score fast in COD4 then S&D is definitely what I would recommend. (You must be half decent at S&D – This will take time to get used to I know, I will post tips on how to improve you COD game in S&D later) Lets compare the scores in some games to show why S&D is the Best game for Point:
HQ:
Length – 15 mins
Points per kill - 5
Average kills - 35-45 (It may be higher or lower for some)
Points per assist- 1
Average points for base – 45 (This includes capturing, destroying & kills in it)
Averave team points per game (from base)- 170
Average points per game - 415 (40 kills)
Average bonus – 150
Total points - 565 points per 15 mins ( you may be higher or lower)
S&D:
Length – 15 mins (average 6 rounds)
Points per kill - 50
Average kills - 5-9 (Usually over 1 per round – nothing special)
Points per assist- 25
Points for Bomb - 100 – At least once per game!
Average points per game - 400 (at 6 kills + bomb)
Average bonus - 35 per round- low ( Then multiply by 6 rounds)
Total points - 610 points per 15 mins (Usually ALOT less than 15mins)
SO:
S&D = 610 points per 15 mins
HQ = 565 points per 15 mins
Difference = At least 45 points per 15 mins
To put this in perspective:
Over 1 hour = 180 points roughly (in difference)
Over 24 hours (1 day) = 4320 points roughly (in difference)
Over 5 days = 21600 points roughly ( in difference) – It starts to add up!
And thats only if you are AVERAGE!
If you were Pretty Good at S&D you would Really notice the difference! Take this for example:
S&D:
Length – 15 mins (average 6 rounds)
Points per kill – 50
Average kills - 9 (Nearly 2 per round – decent enough)
Points per assist- 25
Points for Bomb - 100 – (usually 2 times min)
Average points per game - 550 (at 9 kills + 1 bomb)
Average bonus - 40 per round ( Then multiply by 5 rounds) -200 points
Total points - 750 points per 15 mins
SO:
S&D = 750 points per 15 mins
HQ = 565 points per 15 mins
Difference = At least 185 points per 15 mins
To put this in perspective:
Over 1 hour = 740 points roughly
Over 24 hours (1 day) = 17760! points roughly
Over 5 days = 88800 points roughly – OH DEAR! And Thats only the difference between HQ and S&D in COD4!!
*I have updated the points, after taking IIII’s comment into consideration. Thank you for pointing it out!
Where to aim

If you see someone a few yards in front of you and he sees you. You have the same gun and shoot at the same time. What, apart from perks, will make the difference in who gets the kill. Where they shoot! The best place to aim is, obviously the head, however this is not a great habit to try and get into as you will miss alot, depending on distance.
So the best place to have your crosshairs pointed is at the chest. COD4 registers more damage to the upper torso than the arms and legs. This is where your crosshairs should be pointed 99% of the time.
You will eventually get used to the height that they should be at. Once you master this you will see your kills start to increase.
How to improve your aim
I received a hit from google after someone searched the title. So, I thought that I had better write a post on it!
Your aim depends on several factors. The first type of “aiming” that I will discuss is hip fire accuracy. The BEST way to improve this is steady aim.
Secondly, if you are going to be shooting from a close distance with hip fire then you should definitely pay attention to the accuracy of your gun! When you are in create a class have a look at the accuracy stats of your gun. An mp5 with steady aim has relatively good accuracy for close -medium range.
Another pointer that I should mention when using hip fire is that if you are running you will notice that the four white lines (that is your hip fire aimer) Will spread apart. To counter this you should walk or crouch. This is not always possible though but if you think that you can strafe while shooting then your accuracy will improve AND you will be harder to shoot.
Now, when you are aiming through the sights of the gun. If you find that you are having trouble keeping your aimer on the enemy while shooting over a long range then there could be several problems
Firstly, check that you have a gun capable of long range eg. the RPD, M4, or any LMG, Assault Rifle or Sniper.
Secondly, if the enemy that you are shooting is a long distance away then don’t unload your whole clip! Shoot 2 or 3 bullets, stop, then shoot 2 or 3 again a second later. What will this achieve? Well, when you are shooting the gun slowly starts to point upwards. This will have a massive impact on your aiming and accuracy over a long range. By stopping shooting for a second or two you reset the gun to its original position.
If you are having trouble aiming while sniping then I think the best way to improve this is to snipe in ground war. In ground war there is an abundance of people to choose from. Creek is one of my favourite places to snipe in Ground War. If you are going to take a shot with your sniper make sure you are holding your breath! Otherwise there is little chance that you will hit unless you are well used to it!
If you are aiming at someone that is medium distance away from you then you should always aim towards their chest. What I mean is, say someone is running from right to left, aim slightly in front of them, millimetres not inches! And if the gun has any power what so ever they will be dead in a second.
Start of the Game – Tips
This tip applys especially to HQ, although I am sure that it applys to other games aswell. In COD4, when you start of you are GENERALLY with the rest of your team. For example, in Search and Destroy this is always the case.
However, in some games in HQ you will see on the map that you are not surrounded by your team mates. If you are on the other side of the map then you should be careful!
What this usually means is that you have, for some reason, started the game in the middle of the enemy.
This could be a huge opportunity to rack up some kills early on. If you have a silenced gun then this is especially true, you can kill several without being found and work your way back to your team, the base, etc.
I have seen so many people waste this opportunity because they didn’t even realise where they were!
Respawning – Shipment tips
This is just a quick tip for today as I am busy studying for exams at the moment! When an enemys air strike is called in in shipment the first thing that you should do is run for cover! An airstrike here can cover practically half the map.
However, if you do die. Do not skip the kill cam because ” I know how I was killed” WAIT! It may seem obvious but I have seen many people that are too impatient to wait a second or two, until the kill cam stops before respawning. If you die in the first wave of the attack and respawn straight away there is a chance that the second or third wave will also get you!
So don’t be stupid, take this easy precaution to save you Kill Death Ratio!
